A REPORT ON HEAVY RAIN FLOOD AT HOGOLKURIA AREA

(IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST 1999)

Never had such rain in our area of operation in West Bengal, specially in our project area in IIMC like  Hogolkuria and Haridhan Patha Bhawan school.  The three days  rain swept away the all crops and even the little houses who were living in straw and mud houses. People were transferred in safer place at nearby in school, club, and etc area.
We want to mention here specially about our Hogolkuria area, many houses were  smashed  and the homeless people took center at our schoo. 150 families were home less and rushed to the school. We were very concerned about the suffering people specially the children, women and olders of affected areas.

IIMC made a survey to the affected area of Hogolkuria and identified 12 house for rehabilition of building houses.

IIMC also organised a cooking camp to serve " Khichuri" ( Rice + Dal ) to the affected people of that area. Realising the gravity of suffering of those people some kind hearted friends & Volunteers extended their supports to repair the broken houses and the unhealthy
